The person behind the business

Akhilesh Sharma

Founder · London

Akhilesh’s experience across banking, commodities and shipping is the foundation of Akhil Mercantile’s approach. His career includes roles at Barclays, BNP Paribas and Deutsche Bank, work in a commodity trading company and experience as a tanker engineer.

He holds a degree in marine engineering, an MSc in Mathematical Finance from Bayes Business School and the CISI Level 4 Diploma in Investment Advice. For more than a decade, he has worked with financial-sector professionals, including those at JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Citi, Morgan Stanley and HSBC.
